Boost Your Productivity! Introduction to Pomodoro Technique: Make Your IBDP Easy to Manage

No matter if you are studying for IBDP or GCSE, or any university entrance exam, most of the students face the same problem – productivity drops easily. It is skillful for people to manage to finish different tasks when there are mountains of “to-dos”. If you want to make progress on your daily study plan, you definitely need this time management tactic – Pomodoro Technique.

What is Pomodoro Technique?

Pomodoro Technique is a time management system that allows people to work with the time they have, by breaking down a day into different 25-minute working time slots and implementing 5-minute breaks between intervals. After finishing 4 intervals, you can enjoy a 15 to 25-minute break as a reward.

How does Pomodoro Technique work?

The purpose of the Pomodoro Technique is to create a sense of urgency by using a timer. You know you only have 25 minutes to make as much progress on a task as you can, so you don’t feel like you have all day to get things done and wind up wasting those valuable work hours on diversions. The forced breaks also alleviate the harried, exhausted sensation that most of us have toward the end of the day. The ticking timer on your computer makes it hard for you to sit in front of it for hours without even realising it. These small bursts of work will be much more effective than any protracted study sessions you may have previously employed because the act of taking a short break from your work will “refresh” your focus.

Why should IB students use the Pomodoro Technique?

It is a well-known fact that IB is a rigorous course, but many people under-appreciate just how heavy the workload of the IB is. Therefore, Pomodoro Technique can help you to reduce distractions, manage your time and stay focused. It will help the student to be more productive and less stressed. The Pomodoro technique is one of the simplest but most effective productivity methods out there, where all you need is a timer and the tasks to work on. It is easy to follow by the student.

Time management tips for IB student

You must keep in mind that controlling your time and energy is the key to achieving success in the IB. Stress is decreased and your overall quality is improved when time is spent wisely. I will thus offer three time management suggestions for IB students today.

Make a proper timetable first. Planning is the first and most crucial piece of advice I can offer. Create a plan of action or schedule that suits your needs. But keep it brief and to the point! Make a list of everything you believe you are capable of, but don’t push yourself too far.

Be prudent and make sure your to-do list is also really detailed and exhaustive. Give as much detail as you can. Instead of just putting down your activities for a given day, plan your day according to the time and the things you want to get done. In this way, you can anticipate how your day will go.

Hope all IB students can find their own study pattern and method to get a good result.
