How to make your IB study notes with Goodnotes? New updates on 2023!
Many IB students love using the iPad for their study. Handwritten notes lover should have heard of or been using Goodnotes. What Goodnotes can do for your IB study?
IB students may find them useful for your learning
Pen tool
There are 3 pen styles – fountain pen, ball pen and brush pen. You can use them whenever you are taking your in-class notes, drawing diagrams for your revision or mark notes for your EE or TOK reference throughout your IBDP journey.
Eraser tool
There are 3 types of erasers in the Goodnotes, which are precision eraser, stroke eraser and standard eraser. You can erase the content with different erasers for your needs. There are also 2 highlighted functions in the eraser tool which are auto deselect and erase highlighter only.
Many IB students would like to write their notes instead of importing PDF. When you want to erase the highlight on your written content, turning on the “erase highlighter only” setting can prevent deleting your effort accidentally.
Besides, the auto deselect function can automatically return to the original tool after erasing.
Highlighter tool
If you want to annotate some keywords, you can also use the highlighter tool. Turn on the “Draw in straight line” setting, the lines you draw will be straightened automatically. Highlighting keywords is always for IB students who have to deal with loads of readings.
Shapes tool
You can draw different decent geometric shapes with this shapes tool, or turn on the “Draw and Hold” function in the pen tool instead of using the shapes tool. This is useful for the IB students who are taking science and maths subjects.
Lasso Tool
The lasso tool is always one of the most powerful tools for users to select and create the content with better organisation.
You can draw a loop to select the content, then you can move, cut, copy, delete, resize and rotate the selected part. It is amazing for arranging different textual and graphic content in the notes with the flexible layout.
Elements Tool
If you have to add the same content repeatedly, which appears across different notebooks, you can use the elements tool to save the content as a “stamp”.
There are also some preset elements, like memos and stickers, which can decorate your notes and save time for making notes.
Text tool
If typing is more convenient to you, you can also use the text tool in the Goodnotes. By connecting your iPad with a keyboard, you can use the app to organise a more tidy layout of your notes. IB students usually use online reference for revision or assignments, you can copy and paste the text content through this tool as well. It is efficient to organise your notes more on the content selection.
Adding pages with different templates
You can easily add pages with different templates and page direction which is user-friendly to have various types of content in one single notebook. You can create notebooks by subjects or course topics of your IB study and revise your notes efficiently.
Notes outline
When you have countless pages in one notebook, it is time-consuming to get to the topic you want by flipping the pages one by one. You can add notes outline for your notebook to make it clear to browse.
Printing your notes
You can export your notes to PDF for printing if the tablet is certainly a distraction for your study.
New updates in 2023 – Audio recordings
In 2023, Goodnotes has launched their latest function – Audio note taking. You can record the lecture when you are taking notes.
